A Preventable Disease:

Lyme Disease, do you know enough about it to save your pet ?  

Lyme disease is a danger to all dogs as it can cause Lymes                               
kidney failure or bad arthritis problems if not treated soon.                              
                                                     

1.   The lyme vaccine in across the board testings is 80% effective in preventing lyme's in        
     retrievers . Too many dogs have died from Lyme's Disease that received the vaccine       
     alone  as a prevention.                                                                                                         
                
2.  Ticks are active all year round once the temp has reached 32 degrees, which I have        
     tested in the winter and found to be true.                                                                           
   
3.  The use of topical flee and tick monthly and the lyme vaccine yearly                               
prevents lyme's disease to a great extent but a few dogs still get it.  When someone

what to watch for as symptoms and  all  are  curable with early antibiotics.                         
                                      

4.   Mice are the biggest carrier of lyme ticks and deer are second, so  protect your dog

5.   Pups cannot have topicals until 12 weeks old unless you find a soultion for under that     
      age and there are some out there.  If your cat lays against the dog make sure the         
      topical is safe for the cat.                                                                                                     
  
6.   Dogs live an average of 2 plus years longer if they are kept leaner,  loved and fed         
     quality food.  Good genetics ups the odds of a longer life also.  Many labs have lived  13  
      to 16 yrs well above the average of 10-12 years.                                                                 
                                                     
8 .   Auto strikes and Lyme's are the two biggest threats to any dog.  Giving vaccines           
      when needed and containing your pet with in the property are life savers.
